2's(2a, 2b): Very loose curls that hang close to the face and don't have very much volume or "swirl" if you will. This hair type is very close to a the wavy hair style with a bit more of a twist and it is the most moisturized. 2's don't usually require very much product, but they will usually use a de-frizzing conditioner or serum to make sure humidity will not take their hair to higher heights!
Scarlett Johansson can be defined a curly 2a, you can see that she have very loose ringlets and her hair is totally frizz-less!
3's(3a, 3b, 3c): This type of curl is more of ringlet and the volume is more visible as the hair protrudes more from the scalp. I am personally a 3b as my hair is tighter than the wavy style. 3's need a bit more hair management and need to spend more time de-frizzing and moisturizing. With most 3's, a and b, shampooing and conditioning is simply not enough, speaking from personal experience.
Christina Milian is a 3b here! Her hair is tighter than Scarlett's and also has a lot more volume.
4's(4a, 4b, 4c): This version of curls is typically referred to as the "kinky curl" (although I do not prefer to use that term). The 4's have a very very tight curl that usually shrivels up and makes the hair look short. 4's have the most volume of all the curly types and the most hair maintenance, as this hair type is the driest. Using moisturizers and frizz-less products are typical actions 4's will take to keep their hair looking fresh!
Kelis has great 4a hair as is it is has a ton of volume! The hair has a very tight curl that makes for a awesome look.
