Curly DON'TS!

Have you ever done something to your naturally beautiful curly hair that just destroyed it for all eternity(okay that's a bit much lol)? I know I have, BUT from all the mistakes that I have made with my hair I have always learned from them. Some of the things I have done to my hair might have worked for other peoples hair, because as we all know EVERYONES hair is different. From experience I know that I have done about extremely 5 terrible things to my hair that have changed the texture and type of curl I originally had. Also, on a everyday basis there are things you can avoid doing that will strengthen that curly top!
The first mistake I made with my hair was relaxing it. I can't stress this enough that it just ruined my hair entirely! It took the curl away and just dried the life out of my curls! It is just not a good idea to do anything chemical to your hair, it can cause reactions such as: ceased hair growth, loss of hair, irritated scalp, and those are just some of the complaints! I can't speak for everyone BUT I can say that relaxing hair just causes more problem than it solves!
The second mistake was doing the Japanese Hair Straightening treatment. First of all, it is extremely expensive and that is never an okay thing. Secondly it didn't do as it promised, which was loosen or release the curl from my hair, which was a mistake on my part because Curls are beautiful and who would ever want to rid themselves of them??? LOL. Anyway it dried my hair out and it ceased the growth, and I had extreme split ends for the longest time. I ended up having to cut my hair to my shoulders because of it and I resent that SO avoid this treatment if you can as well.
This one is VERY important so PAY ATTENTION. I was one of the worst offenders when it came to this product, GEL! There isn't enough time in the world for me to stress how BAD most gels are for your hair. The alcohol in most Gels dries curly hair out to the extreme and nothing good can come from dry hair.  Chelsea Barboza tips us on Gel, "DO NOT use gel ~ it makes your curly hair hard, flaky, & no guy wants to run his fingers through a slimy head". No one want HARD hair, it just isn't attractive, nor is it healthy. And it is totally true that no one likes a slimy head! Now, some Gels do have positive reinforcement BUT reading the label on the back of hair products is essential, so if you must buy Gel, look for alcohol free gel, or just switch to a cream that will hydrate your hair!
I could talk forever about Curly DON'Ts, but I'm going to finish with DONT DONT DONT brush curls! COMB THEM! Brushing through your hair, I admit is quicker as fair as time goes BUT it breaks and tears at the curls AND it causes more frizz. Use a wide tooth comb, or comb through with your hands. I know it sounds crazy BUT it works LOL! After you're finished using your hands to comb through that hair, don't touch it any more! Constantly putting your hands in your hair throughout the day causes even more frizz! (I'm also the worst offender here as well, I'm working on it though!) So keep those hands AWAY from those curls and you should be ready to go!
Remember that is is important to pay attention to what your are putting your hair through! If you use one wrong product your hair just might rebel. I hope this helps! Enjoy!

Welcome Curly Heads!

Welcome all curly heads! My name is Bianca or B, and I want to share with anyone who is interested all about the different methods I have used in the past and what I will do in the future to my curly hair, in hope that I can help with perfecting curly locks! From personal experience I know that curls can be a pain, but once you find that style that just works for you it makes a world of difference to how one feels about their hair. In my opinion, the most important things to me about my hair is its health, so the main point to my different attempts at curl perfection will be to have healthier curly hair. I have come to learn that the smallest things we can do or not do to our hair can make is less frizzy or stop breakage from happening. I will share my past mistakes all the way through my current adventures with my curly hair and how my hair is affected by certain products and techniques. Remember the goal is strong, frizz-less, silky curly hair for all those who love the curls! If anyone ever has any suggestions for topics or any questions feel free to speak up! This weeks topic is Curly DON'TS!
